Month of Community

cover photo.JPG

Solstice literally means the standing of the sun. The Winter Solstice is the shortest day and the longest night of the year. It asks us to slow down, reflect, and recognize that rest is necessary for growth. The solstice is a time of transition, reminding us to live with hope, the dark will end and the light will come.

We have moved through 2018 focusing on Radical Self-Acceptance. Together we have explored…

Mindfulness

Love

Worthiness

Creativity

Vulnerability

Happiness

Compassion

Courage

Purpose

Gratitude

Peace

December is our month of Community…we are all connected. We are hard wired for connection and not meant to do life alone. The seemingly paradoxical experience of self-acceptance is the more we accept ourselves, the more we are able to accept each other. Radical self-acceptance gives us the capacity to extend things like love, compassion, and peace to the people in our community and those closest to us.

This month we’re reading Journey to the Heart by Melody Beattie, a book of daily meditations. From the book, “What are you going through in your life right now? Don’t feel you’re the only one. Open your eyes. Open your heart to your connections to your larger family. Let them share their stories with you. Let them share their strengths, hopes, fears, and joys. Stop looking for what’s different and what makes you separate and apart. You’re not alone. We’re in this together. That’s why it’s called universal love.”
