As spring is settling into the Okanagan valley, the days begin to stretch - elongated by the sun’s lingering afternoons and vibrant colours of nature’s awakening. Winter suddenly feels far away, the seeds we’ve planted (both literally and within) are starting to open, having been nurtured by winter’s quiet. Spring brings more energy, more connection to the earth, opportunities to try new things, and possibilities for adventure.
The sutra for May is Sutra 1.34 - When you regulate the breath, you regulate the mind automatically. The breath is the cue to the body that it is safe, that it’s okay to be right here, right now. In yoga practice, we link movement with breath…an inhale and exhale matched to an action in the body. In this way, we invite the body and mind to integrate, to connect. Intentionally focusing on the breath moves the body into a parasympathetic nervous system response, out of a stress state and into a rest and heal state. Yoga practice invites that integration, offering a way to feel less anxious, calmer, clearer, and more connected.

The Foundations of Yoga
The Foundations of Yoga is back! We are so excited to be offering one of our most popular series. Thursdays, May 9th – June 13th from 6:45pm-8pm. The Foundations of Yoga is a 6-week series focused on building the foundations of a safe and effective yoga practice. If you are new to yoga, have always had questions about whether or not you’re doing something correctly, or just want to deepen your understanding of yoga – this series is for you. The series will focus on safe alignment, transitions, and use of breath. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and grow your practice. All classes will be taught by Rachel Sacharuk. Rachel is a registered Yoga and Pilates teacher with additional training in Neu Yoga Therapy. With a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Rachel cares passionately about safe alignment and balanced practice. Space is limited. Investment is $145 + tax. Members receive a 15% discount. Yoga for Athletes
Support your training. Enhance athletic performance. Recover faster. This class will focus on myofascial release and response, building strength and flexibility, supporting endurance and balance, creating body awareness, and injury prevention. Attention will be given to activating deep stabilizing muscles and the intentional stretching of global muscles. Open to athletes of all levels. Every Tuesday at 7pm, starting May 7th.
Let it Flow
Join us for our very first rooftop event of the year! Thursday, May 30th at 5:30pm on the roof of the Innovation Centre. The night will begin with a 75-minute fun flow yoga class. We’ll move to the beautiful sounds of live music as we overlook the lake. After yoga, we will be treated to a custom wine flight and private reserved seating at Perch Café and Lounge. On Sunday, June 2nd at 3pm, you are invited to a special 2-hour Feelosophy experience with Drew Hertz. Feelosophy is a small, intimate, restorative yoga class with safe, supportive hands-on touch to help you become more connected with your body and to create a space for communities to gather and talk about touch. Drew, and her Feelosophy trained team, will lead you through a chill yoga practice mixed with relaxing, massage-based adjustments. Each class uses introspective questions and music set to an intention, offering you space and permission to slow down and feel. Expect good tunes, deep conversation, and all the touch you crave.
